Why am I doing this?

People who know me know that I love to run (and sometimes swim and bike too!). With a new season of races coming up and a host of new year resolutions in my mind, I reflected on the fact that most of my friends think I'm mental for actually enjoying putting myself through all the training and races I sign up for.

So I thought - why not try and leverage this insanity and raise some money for a good cause? The charity I've decided to support is called Moving Mountains. I know some of the protagonists involved with this charity personally - and I can vouch for the difference their efforts make. So I thought I'd like to add my own little efforts to their worthy cause.

Thank you for your support!

- Andy

Did my stability set in TF before the swim session. Generally good though twanged my left hamstring doing the axe chop exercise.... worried about swimming and compensated for legs by pushing arms hard.

Swim:

Warmup
4 x 75m
Main Set:
5 x 200m (20 sec recovery)
10 x 100m (off 2:10)
2 x 200m

tough but good!

Did a 4km tempo run around the pond in tymon park. Feeling strong. Yoga in the evening. Managed a head stand - though was a bit of a jump with my ass resting on the wall :-) still - small victories etc!

Saturday October 31 2009

Did 6 laps of the magazine steady running - 3min 30 sec per lap. Feeling strong and right calf ok now after rolling it out last night.

Thursday October 29 2009

Did an easy long loop around to the long mile road and back at lunch. Right calf is a bit tight - probably due to running on a hard surface in spikes yesterday.... otherwise feel ok.

Swim session with 3D. A lot of practice on reducing amount of breaths - will try to breathe every 7 strokes for the next while and see how it goes..

Good exercise:
8 x 25m off 35-40 sec with 1 breath per length...

Wednesday October 28 2009

Went running again at Bohermeen AC. Did about 2km warmup - then 3 x 1200m intervals with 400m recovery. Pace not too hard - but a good speed session. Seems the key to fast injury free running is "a lot of a little, not a little of a lot"...
